Currently, we are not accepting applications for 3DEAP NRT trainees.
Our next cohort will be able to apply in early November 2026.
APPLY HERE
Graduate students at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities may apply to the 3DEAP Program. There are two types of 3DEAP trainees, and an applicant can be eligible for one status or the other depending on their graduate program, citizenship status, advisor(s), and research interests:
Non-NRT Funded Students: These students will be able to participate in the program and gain all of its benefits, but they will not receive a stipend from the 3DEAP program to support their graduate education. Students who typically fit this category include Master's students and international students.
NRT-Funded Students: These students will be able to participate in the program and receive a stipend from the 3DEAP program for 1-2 years of their graduate education. These students need to be domestic students (US Citizen, US National, or US Permanent Resident) who are pursuing a PhD.
If you have any questions about eligibility criteria, please reach out to the 3DEAP Program Coordinator at racec@umn.edu.
Exclusive to the University of Minnesota: All students (NRT-Funded and Non-NRT Funded) should be active students in the first year of their graduate programs at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
One Application for All Students: Students who are eligible to receive the stipend and students who are not will apply via the same application form and process.
Offers Indicate Funding: If you are invited to participate in the 3DEAP program, your offer will outline whether or not you are receiving the stipend.
Application Deadline: Applications are due in early November of your first year within your graduate program; generally, the application will be due prior to advisor selection within the Chemistry and CEMS Departments.
For Fall 2025, the application will be due on November 7th by 11:59pm.
